The survey, which covered 2,143 companies across nine sectors, had more than 52 per cent of the companies reporting increase in workforce while 37 per cent did not report any change in the first half of the year. According to a survey of the top 20 employers, the maximum number was projected from the IT/ITeS sector, followed by manufacturing, transport and communications, energy and BFSI. As much as 60 per cent of the companies hiring people were from the private sector. The IT and ITes alone would account for over 7 lakh jobs, with the sector picking up people from other industries. "The BFSI sector is expected to lose about 1.3 lakh jobs, with people moving to other verticals," said Ma Foi Management Consultants Managing Director K Pandia Rajan. From: HT, OCT-11,2006
