What does a banking course entail?

Q:I am a graduate, planning to pursue an LLB programme. Which are the good Law institutes in Delhi? (BHUMICA SHARMA)
After graduation, you can take up a three-year LLB course available at most universities. In Delhi, Delhi University, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and Jamia Millia Islamia teach Law. Students, who opt for a threeyear LLB degree course, have to be a graduate in any discipline with 50 per cent marks. Admission is on the basis of an entrance test held in June each year.
Q:I completed my B.Com. with 51 per cent marks in 2002. I will appear for the management entrance tests this year. But I do not have any work experience and can afford only Rs. one lakh for an MBA course. Which institutes select candidates only through written tests, GDs and interviews? (GODABARI) You may also look at doing courses, such as the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CWA (Cost and Works Accountant), which would enable you to work with banks or in the financial department of companies, or the Company Secretary course, which is also well recognised. You could also look at a PG Diploma in Business Management offered by many institutes where you can specialise in any area of management finance, marketing, international business and so on. Many institutes admin ister their own entrance tests and also offer good placements. Also, try for any job, even if the salary offered is not good. Today, there are a host of programmes for the new breed of financial professionals. If you wish to get into banking and finance, you could opt for an MBA programme in Finance or try for several other suitable programmes. Delhi University offers a two-year Master of Finance and Control (MFC) programme, which covers all aspects of Finance including Corporate Finance, Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Financial Services, and other related areas. Similar courses are also available at the Aligarh Muslim University, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, Banaras Hindu University, Bangalore University and some other universities. The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) runs PG diploma courses in Treasury and Forex Management and in Merchant Banking and Financial Services, in addition to other finance related courses, through postal tuitions and contact programmes. There is also a two-year, full-time programme in Management of Business Finance offered by the Indian Institute of Finance, Delhi. Moreover, the Mumbai Stock Exchange Training Institute offers a PG course in Capital Markets Studies, as does the Institute of Capital Markets Development, New Delhi. A correspondence diploma course in Financial and Investment Planning is offered by the Institute of Financial and Investment Planning, Mumbai. Also, the National Institute of Bank Management (www.nipmindia.org), Pune, an apex academic institute for the banking sector, offers a one-year PG programme in Banking and Finance, for which admission is through CAT.
