My son is in Class XII. He is sincere but does not score very high marks. He is good in sports and is a good artist. He has always been a confident boy.

Since this is the Board year, we have restricted his gaming hours. Since the last few weeks he keeps talking about how others get better grades than him, how he cannot mug up lessons as his friends can, how some of the lessons do not interest him at all. Please advise.?

Please continue to encourage your son (none / 0) (#1)

It sounds like you recognise the strengths and limitations of your son, but have bowed under the usual pressure of “Board”. Please continue to encourage your son to engage in activities that will enhance his personal and mental growth. Every child has his own potential, not everyone can be a good sports person and not everyone can get 90 per cent marks. Help your son see his strengths and help him study. For example, help him look at Mathematics problems like a sports play, where we have to match all the different elements to come up with a winning solution. Encourage him to diversify his way of studying regardless of how his friends study. He is an individual in his own right and will do well as his potential allows.
