The Delhi University's School of Open Learning is expecting to enroll around 80,000 students this year, officials said.

Around 42,000 admission forms have already been sold and 1,581 students have been admitted, said Professor HC Pokhriyal, Executive Director at the School.

The School has purchased 250 computers this year to simplify the admission process. "Thousands seek admission to SOL every year and it was difficult for officials to carry out the admission process manually. The whole process has been automated from this year," said Pokhriyal.

"There is no difference between the regular colleges of Delhi University and the School of Open Learning. The basic eligibility criterion is the same for both. The students are taught the same syllabus and the degree, which they get after the completion of their course, is also the same. Moreover, the examination system is also no different," said Pokhriyal.

Adding that the School has come up with initiatives to ensure that the students get quality education, he said, "We have a well-stocked library with around 5 lakh books."
