Hiring in media, entertainment sector looks upbeat: Manpower

The booming media and entertainment industry has the highest employment potential in the country, with 58 per cent employers intending to hire more people in the next three months, says global staffing services firm Manpower.
"Employers in India continue to show optimism in their hiring intent, especially in the Media and entertainment industry which forms an integral part of the service industry ... with north taking the lead being the most optimistic," Manpower India Managing Director Naresh Malhan said. Media and entertainment industry forms one of the most positive potential employer with a net employment outlook of 58 per cent for the third quarter of this year, according to a survey conducted by Manpower. The 58 per cent net employment outlook was derived from the responses collected from human resources heads in top media buying houses, electronic channels, publications, advertisement agencies among others.
The survey includes employers across seven industry sectors Finance/ Insurance and Real Estate; Manufacturing; Mining and Construction; Public Administration and Education; Services; Transportation and Utilities; Wholesale and Retail Trade.
According to the survey, the services sector emerged as most optimistic while public administration and education segment showed the weakest hiring intentions. Finance, insurance and real estate sectors were considerably stronger on quarter-over-quarter basis. Out of total employers surveyed in the services sector, 70 per cent reported an increase, 19 per cent reported no change, Manpower added. Source:The Hindu 17thJune2008.
