Made it to the list? Time to get ready for paperwork
By Riti, Section News
If you are one of the lucky ones to have qualified for a DU seat in the first list, it's time for you to get your certificates and other documents ready. While colleges are making all efforts to ease the admission process, students are advised to carry original class X and XII certificates along with attested copies of character and provisional certificates from their last attended institute and passportsize photographs. Students applying under special categories -- SC/ST and OBC -- should take their caste certificates.
Many colleges have updated their websites with information pertaining to the admission process. ``We have put all details -- documents required, admission process, contacts and important dates -- on the website. Once students have made it to the list, they will have to buy an admission form from the college counter. It has to be submitted to the department where the student is seeking admission. The teacher incharge will recommend aadmission and then the admission convener will grant admission to the student. As the process is long and tiring, we have advised students to be patient and co-operative,'' said Ramjas College Rajender Prasad.
SRCC principal PC Jain says successful students need not rush as the admission process is spread over three days. Unlike other colleges, SRCC list will carry names of the students. ``They need not hurry, their admission is assured if they will fill up the form within three days. We have already verified the results with the CDs sent by state boards, so the admission process will be less complicated,'' he said.
Those who have applied under the OBC quota need to make sure that the certificate they are carrying is in their own name with the non-creamy layer certification. ``We have a separate cell to deal with OBC students. Those willing to apply for hostel facilities should fill up the form at the time of admission. We will come out with the hostel allotment list, based on merit, by July 10,'' said A Sankara Reddy, Sri Venkateswara College principal. Those who want to cancel their admissions in the eventuality of getting through a medical or engineering college can withdraw their admission. ``The students who cancel their admission can obtain their original documents back within two hours of withdrawal,'' said Prasad.
