Delhi University's School of Open Learning (SOL) Forms Available Online On Its Website
By Sumit Kumar, Section Admission Notice
This year, students seeking admission to Delhi University's School of Open Learning (SOL) can download the application form from the school's website, fill it up and send it to the university.
Outstation students would benefit from the move as they need not come to the university to collect or submit the forms, officials said. The institution has also uploaded the prospectus on its website. H C Pokhriyal, principal of School of Open Learning, North Campus, says the centre had been planning this move for some time now. "We want to make the admission process hassle-free. Right now, it functions like DTC bus service. But in a while, it should work like the Delhi Metro, with everything controlled digitally," he says. The forms were uploaded on June 2, when admissions to SOL began alongside other courses. Students can download the form, fill it up, attach necessary documents and post it to the SOL address. Madhvi, computer-in-charge of SOL, said 500 such forms have already been submitted: "Most forms were received from Noida, Gurgaon and Sonepat." This is not the first time that SOL has introduced online facilities. During last academic year's final examinations, admission tickets of students who had lost or not received the original tickets on time were put up online. In the coming session, the centre plans to introduce "demand letters" through which students getting promoted will be able to get admission without much hassle. "Right now, students have to register themselves and then pay the money separately. The demand letter that will be available online will have both the facilities in one," says Madhvi.
