Candidates under this category are given relaxation to the extent of 5% in the qualifying examination. A maximum prescribed period of two years is also extended to physically challenged persons for passing examinations.

Last year's data reveals that 173 students were admitted under this category. Of these 103 were at the UG level, 34 at the PG level and 36 in diplomas/certificates. The majority of them have taken admission in the faculty of education, others are scattered in the faculties of engineering, fine arts etc. This year too, admissions under this category are currently taking place but data has yet to be tabulated.

A `Learning Centre for Differently Abled' was established in May last year in Dr Zakir Hussain Library. Aimed primarily at supporting the visually challenged students and staff members, the centre is a modern facility with state-of-the-art technology.
