  • PROFILE Established in 1967, this girls-only college takes pride in the fact that it has one of the greenest campuses in Delhi University. ``We believe in bringing innovative ways of teaching and from this year we are offering a PG diploma in nanotechnology, the first of its kind in the country. We are also installing a lift for the differently-abled and airconditioning systems in the college,'' says Dr Savita M Dutta, principal.

Apart from well-equipped laboratories for the science courses, the college has a good collection of books in the library. Maitreyi College does not have a placement cell but has always taken lead in organizing career fairs. The college provides students with sports facilities for various games. It specifically promotes judo and table tennis. For the physically challenged, new ramps are being made this year. The Braille packages are also available in the college.

 Among the wellknown colleges of DU, Lady Shri Ram College for Women was established in 1956. ``We take pride in the fact that LSR stands for leadership with social responsibility. We train not only job seekers, but job creators as well. From this year, we will tie up with National University of Singapore for an exchange programme at undergraduate level. LSR provides an inclusive environment for not just who come from the marginalized section of society, but for all,'' says Kanika Aggarwal Khandelwal, mediacoordinator of the college.

 LSR has one of the most active placement cells in Delhi University. Its computerized library is also one of the best among DU colleges. The college is introducing ramps to make the campus more friendly to differently-abled. A society, Swalamban, conducts workshops on computer and English literacy, gender and personality development for its students. The college has a full-time student counsellor. Hostel facility with 300 seats is available in the college.

DYAL SINGH


  • PROFILE Founded in 1959 and run by a trust, Dyal Singh College became part of Delhi University in 1973. The college is governed by the idea that education without morals makes no sense. ``Right now we are concentrating on expansion plans. We will soon have a five-storey science block,'' says Dr I S Bakshi, principal.

From this academic session, the college will have a lift for differentlyabled, a 200-seat auditorium and a basketball court. The cultural societies of the college are fairly active. The college authorities specifically look after the infrastructure for boxing game and in recent years its students have won a number of medals in boxing (girls) competitions. The college has a women advisory committee that trains the girls in martial arts.
