The stand off between Delhi University and Lady Shri Ram College came to an end after the college decided not to hold interviews as part of the admissions process for BCom, Sociology, Hindi and Philosophy.

The issue came to light after the Dean Students Welfare Office, South Campus wrote to LSR authorities asking for an "observation", after some students complained that the college had decided to hold interviews for admission to a few courses.

"College authorities have decided not to hold interviews for these four subjects," Kanika Khandelwal, LSR public relations officer, said. "The DU Bulletin does not contain any information about these interviews. Therefore, to avoid confusion among students who have filled up only the centralised forms, we have decided not to hold interviews for these courses," she said.

D C Varshney, Deputy Dean Students Welfare, South Campus, said, "Its good that LSR has taken this decision, as this has helped in protecting university norms." He said this decision would also ease the apprehensions of the students.

Dean Students Welfare S K Vij, however, declined to comment on the matter. "All decisions are taken in accordance with university guidelines. This is an internal matter and I would not like to comment upon it any further," Vij said.
