By akanshaa, Section News
The third list, to be declared on Saturday, may not hold much hope to aspirants in the general category with admissions over in most of the popular courses in top Delhi University colleges. However, OBC category may still be open.
While SRCC which admitted 442 in BCom (Hons) and 109 in Eco (Hons) is waiting for Friday before closing admissions in general category. Principal PC Jain said: ``We have just about 10 seats for the reserved category. So there will be no third list in general category.'' Hans Raj has already admitted 1,300 students by the end of the fifth day and third list may just have three to four options for the general category. Principal SR Arora said: ``Except in programmes such as Sanskrit (H), Hindi (H), BSc physical science and life sciences, we won't bring out a third list. It will be only for the OBC category as we have been able to fill only 50 of the 200 seats.'' However, in Hindu 84 of the 131 seats for OBC students have been taken up. While BCom (H) is expected to remain open for general category in the third list with a marginal dip in cut-off, admission are expected to close for programmes such as Physics (H), BSc in physical and applied sciences, English (H), Economics (H), political science (H) and History (H). ``Even in the OBC category, options will be limited,'' said officiating principal Subhash Choudhary. Kirori Mal is also certain to close admission in honours programmes in English, economics, Sanskrit, Urdu, BCom and political science, while programmes such as maths (H), statistics (H), zoology (H), BSc physical sciences and life sciences may remain open with a marginal dip in the third list. ``The college admitted 218 students for physics (H) as against 118 seats, while it admitted 178 students for chemistry (H) as against 111 seats. The third list in all probability will have just about six programmes open,'' said vice principal M C Nahar.
Popular off-campus colleges like LSR, Sri Venkateswara, Gargi and College of Vocational Studies are all set to trim down options. While officials of LSR admission committee said its third list would largely be for OBC candidates, Venkateswara which admitted 1,261 students so far may keep a few options such as English (H), History (H), Botany (H) and Zoology (H) open with a marginal dip of 0.5%. Here too OBC candidates can explore opportunities as only 80 of 197 seats have been filled. And Gargi's third list will open only for subject such as Hindi (H), Sanskrit (H) and BA programme in specializations such operational research.
