OVER 100 INSTITUTES ARE AFFILIATED TO IP UNIVERSITY. IT WILL HOLD 35 TESTS FOR DIFFERENT PROGRAMMES.

It's mission admission again. From Wednesday, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) starts the sale of forms for the new academic year.

Close to 15,000 seats across 70 programmes are on offer this time. Candidates will be selected through a common entrance test (CET). Offering only professional courses at the graduate and postgraduate levels, GGSIPU or IP University is a state university. Outstation students can stake claim to just 15 per cent of the seats.

Over 100 institutes in the Capital are affiliated to it. IP University will conduct 35 tests for different programmes. Four tests will be held at additional nine centres -- Bangalore, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Bhopal, Noida, Jalandhar and Nagpur -- outside the Capital. "The four tests are for MBA, MBBS, MCA and B.Tech courses," said Vice Chancellor Dilip Bandyopadhyay. The varsity is becoming increasingly popular among outstation students.

Last year, 43 per cent of the total applications were from outstation students.

"The competition is becoming fierce. For our MBBS programme, only one student is selected for every 100 who apply,' said Bandyopadhyay.

Though GGSIPU had started implementing the OBC quota last year with five per cent reservation, the additional quota for the next academic session hasn't been decided yet.
