Delhi University (DU) has decided to shift all classes for MCom (masters of commerce) held on South Campus to North Campus from this academic session. The decision was taken after a proposal by the commerce department. The university on July 1 issued a notification regarding this.

According to the notification, teachers and other staff members posted on South Campus stand merged with the department of commerce on North Campus. A total of 254 students are admitted each year for the MCom programme on North Campus as against 123 seats. DU administration said a separate section will be created for South Campus students. However, teachers are criticizing the move stating it was a violation of the admission rules and the University Act.

Secretary of Indian Accounting Association, Delhi Chapter, J L Gupta said the move is regressive and has no sanction of statutory bodies.
